Your Guide to 90 Degree Days on Tucson’s Historic Fourth Avenue

Welcome Spring! Welcome shorts and sandals and 90 degree weather… in April! Desert dwelling has its perks, but let’s be honest, the impending steady climb in temperature isn’t really one of them.

This week, Tucson hit 90 degree weather. While we were sweating it out on the Fourth Avenue sidewalks, this “Guide to 90 Degree Days on Historic Fourth Avenue” was born.

1. party and petal with Arizona Party Bike

Now is the best time to experience the bike powered pub crawl, Arizona Party Bike. Grab a group of friends and pedal along Fourth Avenue and other sights in Tucson. It’s a fun way to be active with friends, and get a little buzzed while pedaling your way around town.

2. Be smooth for the summer at Bare Tucson

Warmer weather means it’s time to show off a little skin. If you want to be smooth all over, a visit to Bare Tucson should be your first stop. The Fourth Avenue boutique that is tucked away near BOCA Tacos y Tequila offers waxing and massage services and is by appointment only, so be sure to call first.

3. Something Cold and Sweet at Dairy Queen

When that temperature rises, let’s be honest…we all scream for ice cream. We have tons of great options for cones and pops on the Avenue. One joint that will always have a sweet spot in our hearts is none other than Dairy Queen

4. dance your way to a summer body at Floor Polish

Does the thought of donning swimwear have you running for Tumamoc Hill? Sweat your way to your beach body and into that bikini with the crew at Floor Polish. With names like Bad-Ass Tap and Cardio Party-O, we can guarantee that these fitness classes are anything but boring.

5. get a breezy summer wardrobe at Hippie gypsy

It’s time to pack away the sweaters and booties, and break out the breezy dresses and sandals. Creations Boutique, Razorz Edge, and Tucson Thrift all have great options for warm weather looks, but we are loving the flow-y tops and sundresses at Hippie Gypsy

6. Beach parties at the hut

Here in Tucson we might be miles from Rocky Point, but we are lucky to have beach access right here on Fourth Avenue! The Hut has sand, sun, and all your favorite tiki drinks to keep cool all season long. So grab a group of friends and head to Fourth Avenue’s favorite beach.

7. tune up your bike at Ordinary bike shop

Ditch your four wheels for two! If you’re looking for a tune up on that bike that has been sitting in storage all year, or if you’re in need of a new set of wheels, the folks at Ordinary Bike Shop have everything you need to cruise your way down Fourth Avenue in style. If you’re looking for a bike swap or for used parts, be sure to check out the GABA Bike Swap on April 15.

8. switch to iced coffee at Cafe Passe

Welcome to the official start of Iced Coffee season in Tucson! Once the temperature starts climbing, the switch to iced coffee drinks marks the start of the season. Our pick for the best iced coffee is at Cafe Passe. Best enjoyed outdoors on the patio obviously!

9. stay cool in the shade at skybar

We love a patio as much as anyone, and Fourth Avenue has some great ones! But in the harsh Tucson sunshine, we need some shade to enjoy them. We noticed recently that SkyBar on Fourth Avenue added some welcome shade over their patio. We think this makes it the perfect spot to enjoy the shade and a cocktail (or two!).
