Your Ultimate Bar Guide To Fourth Avenue

Everyone has their favorite watering hole to hang out at. For Tucsonans the whole Avenue is a playground. You can eat and drink your way up and down the Avenue and leave feeling satiated. 

Whether you are in town for the Gem & Mineral Show, the bi-annual Street Fair, or you are a die-hard Fourth Avenue fan, there’s a spot for you and your crew.

Best for cheap drinks: Che’s Lounge

If you like cheap drinks, great art, and great tunes, Che’s Lounge is for you. The bar has been on the Avenue since the early aught’s and has no cover.

Best for live music: The Flycatcher

Sometimes you want to listen to some sweet tunes while you drink. The Flycatcher has been dedicated to supporting live local, regional, national, and international touring music acts since 2014. They also have ongoing Karaoke on Tuesday nights.

Best Irish Pub: The Shanty

A pint of Guiness is the cure for most woes. The Shanty is Fourth Avenue’s go-to spot for a classic Irish Pub. They are also the Arizona’s oldest continuously licensed bar. So you know, belly up to the bar boys!

BEST WINE BAR: REVEL WINE & BEER

Call your friends and tell them to meet you at REVEL for fine wine and champagne! This classy and cozy wine bar wins high marks for it’s selection of wines from around the world, hand-selected beers, and carefully crafted charcuterie boards. It’s about as close to Paris as you can get in Tucson.

Best Trivia & Game night bar: Sky Bar

Cafe by Day, Astronomy bar by night! The space themed, Sky Bar has telescopes and astronomers on hand to help view the stars. But you can do more than marvel at the universe there, you can test out your game skills. Every week is packed with a host of events including trivia, pool tournaments, and board games. Best Nano Brewery: Public Brewhouse

Grab a growler and fill up at Public Brewhouse. The nano-brewery serves a rotating selection of craft beers and often hosts trivia and game nights. Need to write a love letter or finish your manifesto? Visit them on Type-in-Tuesday when they break out old school type writers for public use.

Need a spot to impress your date? Bar Passe is great place to get cozy and get to know someone. They often have live indie bands playing, too, making it a perfect place to set the mood.

Best Live PERFORMANCE ACTS: Surly Wench Pub

Put some oooh la la into your evening at Surly Wench Pub. Not only is this a great spot to grab affordable drinks, you can catch the best of Tucson’s Burlesque scene here. The Manly Manlesque Show is a fan favorite for the ladies! They also host an open mic comedy night every week and every first Friday of the month, they have a new Burlesque show.

Best Karaoke Bar: Mr. Head’s Art Gallery & Bar

It’s a bar. It’s an art gallery. It’s a place to get down and belt out your favorite tunes. While you are waiting your turn to sing Bohemian Rhapsody, enjoy the art work displayed around the bar. They feature glass sculptures, marbles, jewelry, and paintings from local artists and if you buy any of the art, 100% of the proceeds go directly to the artist.

Best Dancing: Maloney’s, The Warehouse, & The Wreck

At the end of the avenue (right next to the Congress St. underpass) is a 3-in-1 building that houses Maloney’s Tavern, The Warehouse, and the Wreck. While each establishment has their own flare, they all have good dancing and cheap drinks. The Wreck is technically part of Maloney’s tavern and is great for getting down to hip-hop and old school classics. Or go next door to get your country line-dancing on at the Wreck. Either way, there are plenty of ways to boogie all night long.

Best Themed Bar: The Hut

If you haven’t walked through the giant Easter Island head that is the door way to The Hut, you haven’t lived. A playful place to grab a drink, this Tiki bar is where it’s at to enjoy tropical drinks and pretend you are a castaway on an island. They even have an outdoor beach area if you want to go all Baywatch on your friends.

Best Place To Watch Sports: O’Malley’s Bar & Grill

Bear down at O’Malley’s! The bar and grill is a great spot for U of A students to catch the wildcats play. They also play NFL, NBA, and MLB games. This is another great spot to dance on the Avenue, too!

Best Beer Garden: Corbett Brewery

The new kid on the block, Corbett Brewery has a huge patio for you and your friends to enjoy the Tucson sunshine. Corbett opened their doors in December of 2017 and has already given beer lovers a lot to be excited about.

Best LGBQT Bar: IBT’s Bar & Food

IBT’s has been a favorite on the Avenue since 1985. It’s the go-to spot for the LGBTQ community on the Avenue. Be sure and catch one of the drag shows and the IBT go-go boys perform! The bar is a great spot to grab drinks and dance the night away as well.
